Why are your prices not fixed like other jewelry shops?
Because we don't mark up pre-made pieces sitting in a display case. Our pricing is based on the actual cost of materials at the time of your order — the current market price of gold, platinum, or silver, plus the cost of your individually sourced stones, plus craftsmanship. Most jewelry shops in Singapore buy in bulk and apply large markups. We keep our margins fair and transparent, so the price you pay reflects the real value of what goes into your piece.
How much does a custom piece cost?
It depends on the design, metal, and stones. A simple gold ring with a lab-grown diamond can start from around SGD $800–$1,500. More elaborate pieces with larger or rarer stones will naturally cost more. Once you share your idea, we'll give you a clear quote based on current material prices — no surprises.
Do precious metal prices really change that much?
Yes. Gold prices fluctuate daily based on global markets. For example, the price of 18K gold per gram can vary significantly over just a few months. Because we price based on the current market rate rather than a fixed retail markup, you benefit when prices are lower — and you always know you're paying a fair, transparent price.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we require a 50% deposit before we begin sourcing stones and crafting your piece. The remaining balance is due before delivery. This is standard for custom-made jewelry.
The Custom Process
How does the custom design process work?
It starts with a conversation. Tell us what you want — it can be a sketch, a photo, a description, or even just a vague idea. Our designers will work with you to refine the concept and create a detailed 3D rendering so you can see exactly how the piece will look before we make it. Once you approve the design, we individually source the stones and our artisans in Thailand handcraft the piece. The whole process typically takes 3–6 weeks.
What if I don't like the design?
That's what the rendering stage is for. We'll revise the design until you're completely happy before any crafting begins. We won't source a single stone until you've approved the final design.
How long does it take?
Most pieces take 3–6 weeks from design approval to delivery. More complex designs or rare stone requests may take longer. We'll give you a timeline upfront so you can plan accordingly — especially important for engagements or special occasions.
Can I modify an existing design from your collection?
Absolutely. Every piece in our collection is fully customisable. You can change the metal (yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum), swap the stones, adjust the size, or modify design elements. Think of our collection as a starting point — we'll tailor it to your taste.
Can I provide my own stone?
Yes. If you have a family heirloom stone or a gem you've sourced yourself, we can design and craft a setting for it. We'll inspect the stone first to ensure it's suitable for the design you have in mind.
Materials & Quality
Are lab-grown stones real?
Yes, 100%. Lab-grown diamonds and gemstones are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined stones. They have the same hardness, brilliance, and fire. The only difference is that they're created in a controlled environment rather than mined from the earth. They are not simulants like cubic zirconia — they are real diamonds and real gemstones.
Why do you use lab-grown stones?
Three reasons. First, they're ethically sourced — no mining, no environmental damage, no conflict. Second, they're more affordable — typically 60–80% less than mined equivalents, which means you can get a bigger or higher-quality stone for the same budget. Third, they're identical in every measurable way to mined stones. We also offer natural stones for customers who prefer them.
What gold karat do you recommend?
For most fine jewelry, we recommend 18K gold. It's 75% pure gold — the ideal balance between a rich gold colour and durability for everyday wear. 24K is pure gold but too soft for most jewelry. 14K and 10K are more durable but contain less gold. We'll recommend the best option based on your design and how you plan to wear the piece.
Do your pieces come with certification?
Yes. All diamonds and significant gemstones come with certification from recognised gemological laboratories (GIA, IGI, or equivalent). Every piece also comes with a certificate of authenticity from Sangmanee Maison confirming the materials used.
How do you source your stones?
Our workshop is in the heart of Bangkok's jewelry district — one of the world's largest trading hubs for precious stones. When you place an order, our team personally walks the district, inspects stones by hand, and selects each one specifically for your piece. We never buy in bulk or pull from pre-existing stock.
Delivery & Aftercare
Do you deliver to Singapore?
Yes, we deliver directly to your door in Singapore. Pieces are securely packaged and insured during transit.
Do you ship internationally?
We're primarily based in Singapore, but we can arrange international shipping on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to discuss.
What if the ring doesn't fit?
We'll help you determine your correct size before crafting. If the fit is slightly off, we offer complimentary resizing within the first 30 days of delivery (subject to design — some settings cannot be resized).
Do you offer cleaning and maintenance?
Yes. We offer complimentary cleaning and inspection for all Sangmanee Maison pieces. For white gold items that need rhodium re-plating, we can arrange that at cost. We want your piece to look beautiful for a lifetime.
